Best Winter Makeup Looks

Even though it seems like we celebrated a New Year just a couple of days ago, it’s December again and the holiday season is just around the corner. This is the time of year when everyone dreams of hot cocoa with marshmallows and a Christmas movie marathon with friends and family. Still, it’s not just about staying indoors where it’s warm; we still have our schools and jobs, and that requires a bit more effort than usual because it’s winter. Cold wind, frost, rain, and snow can ruin anyone’s day unless you brighten it up with perfect makeup.

Flawless foundation

The downside of this time of the year has to be terribly cold and chilling wind, and your skin will most certainly feel those. Invest in high-quality products such as Alpha H skincare and that will help your skin cope with harsh weather. This is not the time for you to shy away from using more products than you would during the summer, but be careful what you choose to use nevertheless. Turn to liquid products instead of powdered ones; with foundation, it’s easy, but try using liquid highlighter or a cream blush instead. Not only will these textures feel good on your skin, but they will protect and hydrate it at the same time, and give it a nice glow on top of everything else.

Holiday Sparkle

Christmas is coming, and everywhere you look, there are red-and-gold decorations reminding us of it. This season it’s all about high-quality cosmetics that contain glitter, namely metallic eye shadow and nail polish that are becoming a great hit. Jennifer Lawrence and Kylie Jenner are just some of the girls who fell in love with golden hues on their lids and nails. The best thing about these shadows is that they can be used to make your smokey eyes more dramatic, but they can also be accompanied by nothing more than a winged eyeliner and still look just as good. Complete the look by adding a coat of glitter to your lipstick too and you’re good to go.

New Eyeliner Trends

There is nothing that draws more attention to your eyes than plain old eyeliner. Winged eyeliner transforms an ordinary woman into a femme fatale within minutes, and the best thing is that it’s elegant enough to be worn to a classy dinner, and yet discreet enough to wear it to school every morning. Depending on the kind of look you are trying to achieve, you can try swapping your black eyeliner for a shiny one, or even a non-standard one, like pink or red. Glitters seem to be everywhere, so it does not come as a surprise to find shimmer particles in eyeliners as well.

Eyebrows & Eyelashes

Remember those perfect bold eyebrows you had to work so hard for? Well, they are a thing of the past, since natural eyebrows are making a comeback. Those few hairs that stick out under or above your brow? Those are welcomed and accepted. In case your eyebrows are thin, fill them in with brow powder but keep their natural shape. Eyelashes are also coming to focus, and if you don’t like the idea of having several layers of mascara to get that ‘full’ look, you can think about wearing false lashes from time to time.

Even though winter is all about holidays and we’re all mostly staying indoors, it is also the perfect time to try out some of these lovely makeup looks. The sun is not as harsh, so you needn’t be afraid that your makeup will end up all cakey, and cold weather can be used as an inspiration for experimenting with warmer colour palettes. Improvise and experiment freely, you never know when you’ll find something you’ll fall in love with unless you give it a try.
