Black Denim Skirt & Plaid Shirt

As the Christmas season commences, it seems like I have holiday activities multiple times a week, if not multiple times a day. This Sunday, I had church, a jazz band and choir concert, and a Christmas party all on the same day. I chose an outfit and makeup look that would work all day and I would feel comfortable in.

I'm the type of girl who is happy to wear a skirt or dress for all occasions, so I went with a black denim skirt as the first piece of my outfit. I first remember denim skirts becoming a trend around last fall, and I have picked up a few since then. I love denim skirts; they're comfortable, cute, go with everything, and can easily be dressed up or down. This particular black button-down skirt is from Target. Underneath, I wore a pair of black tights because winter weather is all too suddenly here.

To go with my skirt, I wore a red and black plaid shirt. This is something I got a couple years ago, and its thin fabric doesn't keep me very warm, but it worked well with the rest of my outfit.

I wore a gold choker, gold bracelets, and gold stud earrings, all from Forever 21. My favorite part, though, were my gold Converse high tops. These are something I picked out at Journey's when school started. I've gotten comments from friends about how they're "too shiny" or that they're "just not something they'd wear," but that doesn't really bother me. I absolutely love them. I call them my "dressy sneakers," because I have worn them to ALL kinds of occasions. I've worn them to help clean houses, and I even wore them to Homecoming. These are one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

Apart from fashion, I love doing makeup. For this look I used a lot of my favorite products, including liquid eyeliner, lavender lip color, and a whole ton of highlighter.

PRODUCTS I USED

1. Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation in the shade Classic Ivory
I applied this with a wet beauty blender, careful not to use too much. (This is my all-time favorite foundation. It leaves a flawless dewy finish and doesn't cost much.)

2. Almay Clear Complexion Concealer in the shade Light

3. Maybelline Fit Me! Powder in the shade Classic Ivory
I really dislike powder, so I only applied it under my eyes in order to set my concealer.

4. For eyeshadow, I used the colors in a small palette by e.l.f. called "Happy Hour." I used a lavender shade as a base, and then put a white sparkly shadow in the inner corner and on the brow bone. I then blended the second to darkest shade, a glittery metallic color, onto the outer corner of my eyelid, moving toward the center.

5. And now, both my favorite and least favorite part - the eyeliner. I used a liquid eyeliner by e.l.f. in the shade Jet Black to create a wing.

6. Covergirl Supersizer Mascara from the limited edition Star Wars collection in the shade Very Black (I bought this only because it was from the Star Wars collection, but it turned out to be my favorite mascara!)

7. e.l.f. Illuminating Palette
I used the lightest shade to highlight my cheekbones and other areas of my face, then applied a little bit of the pink shade to the apples of my cheeks as blush. I love this palette and use it just about every day.

8. Wet n' Wild Megaglo Contouring Palette
All I did with this was apply a tiny amount of the darker shade as a contour.

9. e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in the shade Tea Rose
I used to be afraid to wear this because it seemed too purple, but lately it has become my favorite lip color to wear. And can you tell I love e.l.f. products? They're affordable and work really well.

That's all for today! Thank you so much for reading my first blog post. This is a new experience for me and I am very excited to share my ideas with you.
