What Do YOU Wanna Be When YOU Grow Up?

Ah, the age old question. The question that everyone gets asked at least once in their lives, but in reality, it's probably one you've gotten many, many, many, many times. And if you haven't yet, you will.

The question will probably start when you're about 5 years old. When I was five, I wanted to be a waitress. Yep, that was me. Little waitress Ashley. I thought that waitressing had to be the coolest job ever. (There's still a small part of me that wants to work as a waitress, not gonna lie!)

But as you get older, this question gets asked more, and it's a lot more serious. You've reached the point where you have to know. You have to decide; especially if you're in high school. That's when you're supposed to have it all figured out. Figuring out if you want to go to college, or want to work, or want to take a gap year and travel, etc, etc.

And let's be honest, it's not easy. It's the hardest decision that you'll ever have to make! This decision is something that will change the course of your life forever. What if you make the wrong choice? What if you decide halfway through going to college for one thing, you think you'd be better at something else?

What if you don't like your career once you've got a job doing just the thing you thought you'd love? OR what if you finish your degree and then can't get a job in what your degree is in?

I'm twenty-two and still don't know what I want to do with my life. I don't know what I was to be when I grow up! (And I'm a grown up...right?) I love my job, I love the people I work with, and I'd love to work there for years, but is this all I want. Is this all that is planned for me?

Maybe. Maybe not.

My advice for you:

Don't let other people pressure you into doing things you don't want to do. Don't want to go to college because you're unsure what you want to go for? Then don't. Want to go to college despite people telling you you shouldn't? Just go! Don't let anyone hold you back from what you want to do. This is your life. Not someone else's.

Go to college. Don't go to college. Get a job. Work hard. Never give up. Love your life because it's YOURS.
